Semen Analysis

Semen analysis

Semen testing under a microscope confirms the presence of sperm in the seminal fluid and is essential if a fertility specialist is to create an effective individualised treatment protocol that achieves a full-term pregnancy and healthy live birth. A semen analysis should be scheduled if pregnancy does not occur in couples where the female partner is older than 35 after 6 months of unprotected intercourse and where the female partner is younger than 35 and pregnancy after 12 months of unprotected intercourse does not occur. If you have had a vasectomy reversal, you are required to take a semen analysis four weeks post procedure.

Arranging a semen analysis:
  • If a semen sample is below the recommended lower acceptable levels, we may ask for a repeat sample to outrule or confirm a problem.
  • The team will explain your results directly to you in a professional, caring and informative manner.
  • Our goal is to ensure you are in control of your own diagnostics and treatment planning.
  • Semen samples must be delivered to the clinic within 60 minutes of production and must be kept at body temperature.
  • The sample is analysed before 1.00 p.m.
  • All results are posted to the client and his nominated therapist(s) approximately three days later.
  • For an additional fee, clients can meet with Mr. Keane on the afternoon of their semen analysis.
