IVF

IVF

IVF (invitro fertilisation) involves the use of follicle stimulating hormones to increase the number of mature eggs produced. The eggs are surgically retrieved from the woman and fertilised with sperm with the resulting embryos being placed in the woman’s uterus for implantation. An embryo is confirmed as having successfully implanted when an ultrasound scan shows a heartbeat.

Each cycle of IVF takes 4-6 weeks and involves:

1. A comprehensive case history review.
2. Impartial advice.
3. Referral to an Irish or non-Irish clinic affiliated to ReproMed, if one has not already been chosen.
4. Assistance in completing all contractual paperwork.
5. Explanation of all medical terminology in non-medical language.
6. All diagnostics completed in Ireland.
7. A safe and supportive environment in which all questions are answered and concerns addressed.
8. Prompt, direct access to the team as questions arise throughout the treatment cycle.
9. The emotional and physical benefits of the 'shared care' programme proven to reduce stress and manage the financial costs.

Additional costs may include:

  • Comprehensive consultation with a gynaecologist.
  • Comprehensive consultation with a urologist, where required.
  • Viral screening as required by the EU Tissue and Cells Directive.
  • Trans-vaginal ultrasound scans to determine the number of follicles and establish the time of ovulation.
  • Ultrasound scan to confirm viable intra-uterine pregnancy.
