Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is an assisted reproductive technique (ART) that places the best quality sperm into the uterine cavity for fertilisation with an egg. A highly successful and affordable treatment option, Southeast Fertility Services recommends couples and individuals consider IUI as the first step in assisted conception.

The first IUI cycle takes 4 weeks during which time the team will:
  1. Ensure you understand all aspect of this treatment pathway.
  2. Present you with an individualised treatment care plan.
  3. Ensure you receive the best standard of care in compliance with the Irish Medicines Board.
  4. Identify the best quality sperm through a comprehensive laboratory semen analysis.
  5. Complete the IUI procedure, whereby the gynaecologist inserts sperm into the uterus.
Additional costs may include:
  • First consultation with the gynaecologist.
  • Viral screening (required by the EU Tissue and Cells Directive).
  • Trans-vaginal ultrasound follicle tracking scan.
  • Ultrasound scan to confirm viable pregnancy.
