Excellent questionnaire for women attending donor egg clinics

The team of consultants, diagnostic scientists, fertility nurses and fertility treatment coordinators at Southeast Fertility Services, routinely works with couples and individuals exploring the assisted reproductive technologies (ART) available to them. As a team, we place huge emphasis on the education of all my clients, believing they should make fully informed decisions, and have the confidence to ask for clarification where something is not clear. When coming to Southeast Fertility Services, their specialist will spend 60 minutes answering questions in non-medical language and ensuring you – the client – understands your available options.

The fertility website www.ivf.net is circulating a questionnaire to gather data on the thoughts and relevant issues surrounding the decisions of women and couples accessing donor egg treatment. The survey purpose, and when or how the results will be described, has not clearly been detailed by the survey coordinator Mr Thomas Elliot.

The survey asks many relevant questions that may help women and couples to reach a decision through self examination as to whether donor egg therapy is definitely a treatment that they are committed to pursuing. The questions are common sense but pertinent and encourage participants to consider issues that have seemed unimportant previously while also focusing attention on issues that may have been important but unclear.

The exercise is worthy and warrants consideration by those deciding on donor egg treatment or may already have completed a cycle of donor treatment. It works as as a self-focusing tool for individuals and couples attending Southeast Fertility Services affiliated clinics or other non-affiliated donor egg therapy clinics.

For woman receiving eggs, the self examination that results from focused questioning may bring to the fore otherwise latent issues, which are often left unexamined until after the final IVF procedure: by now it is often too late to have that ‘one last question’ and since it is anonymous it is worth submitting it for inclusion in an information gathering exercise that may benefit others in the future in a situation similar to yours.
